About Me

Well, hi there! It’s very nice to meet you.

I’m Sarah. This blog is somewhat of a dream come true for me, as anyone who knows me knows I love health. Anything and everything related to health, I’m there.

Let me paint you a picture.

Nothing makes me happier than an hour at Whole Foods wandering around, a perfectly crunchy apple, or a sweat drenched workout. I get giddy over the sight of a new cooking blog post, and can hardly contain myself when I find a great vegetable recipe or the perfect running shoes.

Ah ha, you think. Another one of those health nuts. She probably just loves kale and wheatgrass. Well, kale- sometimes, if it’s in season. But wheatgrass? No way. But, give me a great glass of wine, or blackberry crisp on a hot summer night, and I’m just as happy, let me assure you.

It’s real food after all, isn’t it?  In fact, that is what this Simply.Real.Food Blog is all about. It’s about enjoying real food, but more so enjoying life and what it means to be healthy and alive. And eating food that your body knows what to do with so you can do all of those things, with your fullest potential.

So what is real food? And what is it not? Real food is real, and has been around forever. You can easily pronounce all the ingredients listed on the label- and so can any 8 year old. You could make the item yourself, most likely, if you tried, with normal ingredients. It’s non-processed food. Meaning food that has not been changed from it’s original state. If you are like many other health minded people (myself included many years ago), you might be shocked to know that protein bars, oatmeal, tofu, soy milk and cereal and granola are some of the unhealthiest foods you can eat. Butter, full-fat milk, and coconut oil are some of the healthiest ones. Do I have your attention yet? Good. Read on.

In the age of a very processed food culture, it is my mission to help people see that it doesn’t have to be hard, time consuming or expensive to eat well, to eat clean, and to eat real food. You don’t need to be a professional chef, have exotic ingredients or spices, or a lot of special equipment to cook amazingly healthy & great tasting food that happens to be good for you too. That is where Simply.Real.Food started.

And because of the wild success of this blog and in my own  growing career as a certified nutrition coach, in 2012 I launched a full service nutrition consulting company called Simply Real Health, Inc, with offerings big and small to upgrade your lifestyle, food and overall health. Whether you are local or across the country, needing a small nudge or a lifestyle overhaul, the Simply Real Health services and programs are offered in ways that fit your schedule, life demands, and can be customized to meet your specific needs or timeline.

So between Simply Real Food and Simply Real Health, it’s safe to say that my bottom line is helping people feel better. So whether it’s a new recipe idea, quick tip for healthy living, new workout to try, a great restaurant, article or book, I hope to keep you all in the loop on the things that lift you up and make you feel great inside and out.

All the best,

Sarah
